For Reviewers & Publication Ethics
Peer Review Policy
BLIS Journal operates a double-blind peer review process. All manuscripts are first screened by the Editor-in-Chief or an Associate Editor to ensure alignment with the journal’s aims, scope and basic quality standards. Submissions that pass this initial check are sent to at least two independent expert reviewers. Identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process. Reviewers are asked to evaluate originality, methodological rigour, clarity of presentation, ethical integrity and contribution to the field. Based on the reviewers’ reports, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision to accept, request revisions or reject the manuscript. The journal aims to provide timely, constructive feedback to authors and to complete the first review cycle within a reasonable period.
Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement
BLIS Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and follows internationally recognised guidelines such as those of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publishing process—authors, editors, reviewers and the publisher—must adhere to ethical principles of honesty, transparency and integrity.
Authors must ensure that their work is original, accurately reported and properly referenced, and that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript. Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to more than one journal is not permitted. Editors evaluate submissions solely on academic merit, without discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion, citizenship or political beliefs. Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents, declare any conflicts of interest and provide fair, objective and evidence-based assessments.
Suspected cases of research misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, redundant publication or unethical research practices, will be investigated. Where necessary, the journal may issue corrections, expressions of concern or retractions in line with COPE recommendations.
Plagiarism Policy
BLIS Journal has a zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism and self-plagiarism. All submissions may be checked using similarity detection software and manual review. Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, copying text, data, images or ideas from other sources without proper citation, as well as reusing substantial parts of one’s own previously published work without clear acknowledgement and appropriate referencing.
If plagiarism is detected before publication, the manuscript may be rejected or returned to the authors for explanation. In serious cases, the Editor-in-Chief may notify the authors’ institution. If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal may issue a correction, expression of concern or retraction, depending on the severity and extent of the misconduct.
Archiving & Preservation
BLIS Journal is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content. All articles are stored on secure servers with regular backups to prevent data loss. The journal also seeks to deposit its content in recognised digital repositories and indexing services to ensure ongoing discoverability and preservation. In the unlikely event that the journal ceases publication, reasonable efforts will be made to ensure that all published articles remain permanently accessible through institutional or third-party archives.
